The FitnessOnDemand schedule includes several built-in sharing options that you can learn more about here. These options allow you to either print the calendar or share a version of your calendar that will enable your patrons to add your zone's calendar to their own calendar app. However, if you would like to direct your members to a public website for them to view your calendar you will need to embed the calendar on your site or add the calendar to another public calendar app. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is with Google Calendar.
What you will need before you start
- A Google account
- If you don't already have a Google account for yourself or your business, you can sign up for a free account here
- Your FOD iCal schedule link
- You can copy your iCal link by clicking the Link icon on the top-right of your Schedule page in the Management App.
Add your FOD Calendar to your Google Calendar
The first step is to add your FitnessOnDemand calendar to your Google Calendar using the iCal link.
- On your computer, open Google Calendar.
- On the left, above "My Calendars," click Add From URL.
- Enter your FOD iCal link address in the field provided.
- Check the box next to Make the calendar publicly accessible
- Click Add Calendar. The calendar will appear on the left side under "Other calendars."
You should now see your FOD events on your Google Calendar. You can then share this calendar by getting a direct link to the public calendar, or by embedding the calendar onto your website.
Sharable Calendar Link
The public link to your FOD Google Calendar can be sent to your patrons directly, or you can link to the calendar from your website. This will take your patrons to a standalone page that shows your FOD Google Calendar.
- On a computer, open Google Calendar.
- In the top right, click Settings Settings.
- Click the name of the calendar you want to share.
- Open Access permissions.
- Click Get shareable link.
- A window with your shareable web address will appear. Copy this link to share your calendar.
Embed your calendar on a website
You can embed your FOD Google calendar directly onto a page on your website. This step will require access to the HTML webpage.
- On a computer, open Google Calendar. You can only get the code to embed in your website from a computer, not the Google Calendar app.
- In the top right, click Settings Settings.
- On the left side of the screen, click the name of the calendar you want to embed.
- In the "Integrate calendar" section, copy the iframe code displayed.
- Under the embed code, click Customize.
- Choose your options, then copy the HTML code displayed.
