The GROUP⁵ FitnessOnDemand kiosk consists of two devices; the iPad kiosk, and the media hub. As with any electronic device, the GROUP⁵ devices may need to be rebooted occasionally to solve a technical issue. Rebooting the devices may solve internet connectivity issues, slow performance, or other odd issues that may arise while using the system. The below instructions will walk you through rebooting each device.
Full System Reboot
As long as both devices are connected to the internet and paired, they can be rebooted quickly via the admin controls on the iPad.
- Tap Admin on the top-right
- Enter the passcode (This is a 4-digit passcode. Please reach out to support if you do not know the admin passcode.)
- Tap Reboot Devices
- Accept the pop-up message
Both the iPad and media hub should reboot within a minute. If they do not reboot it may indicate that a device isn't connected to the internet to receive the reboot command. Please follow the directions below to reboot the devices individually.
Media Hub
The Media Hub is a small gray Android device that is usually installed behind your large format video display. The Media Hub included a small black remote that allows you to control and adjust the settings on that device. The power button on the remote puts the media hub in a sleep state and does not reboot the device. To perform a full reboot:
- Point the remote towards the blue light on the media hub and press the Home button
- Use the arrow keys to highlight the power icon on the bottom-right of the screen.
- Press the OK button on your remote.
- Use the arrow keys to select Restart and press OK
If you do not have the remote, you can also reboot the kiosk by unplugging the power cord for five seconds.
iPad
The included iPad wall mount is a flush mount that does not give access to the power and volume buttons on the iPad. However, the iPad can be rebooted using the accessibility features in the iOS settings.
- Tap Admin on the top-right
- Enter the passcode (This is a 4-digit passcode. Please reach out to support if you do not know the admin passcode.)
- Once in the admin section of the app, press the home button on the iPad to go to the iPad's home screen
- Tap Settings
- Go to General >> Accessibility >> AssistiveTouch
- Enable AssistiveTouch and you should see a new circular icon appear somewhere on the edge of your screen
- Press the circular icon and go to Device >> More >> Restart
Note: After the iPad reboots, it is important to turn AssistiveTouch off again to prevent users from accessing the iPad's settings from the FOD app.
- Disable AssistiveTouch
- Press the iPad's home button and launch the FOD app
If you are unable to get out of the FOD app on your iPad from the admin section, please reach out to FOD Technical Support here. The support team may be able to reboot your iPad remotely. If not, the iPad will need to be removed from the mount to be rebooted using the power button on the top of the iPad.
