User Documentation: Fitness On Demand Watch App
The Fitness On Demand (FOD) mobile app now comes with a companion watch app to enhance your workout experience by accessing vital fitness data, such as heart rate and calories burned. Follow the steps below to ensure smooth integration and usage.
Getting Started
-
Install Google Health Connect:
-
The Fitness On Demand watch app uses Google's Health Connect to sync data between your watch and the FOD mobile app. If you haven't already installed the Health Connect app, you can download it from the Google Play Store here.
- Once installed, proceed to the next step.
-
-
Grant Permissions to Fitness On Demand:
- The FOD mobile app needs permission to access your health data. Open the app and allow access to the following data from Health Connect:
- Heart Rate
- Calories Burned
-
These permissions are required for the integration to work properly.
- After allowing permissions in the mobile app, make sure to grant the necessary permissions in the watch app as well.
- The FOD mobile app needs permission to access your health data. Open the app and allow access to the following data from Health Connect:
Geofence Activation
- The FOD mobile app works with your fitness facility to create a geofencing around their building. This is a virtual, geographic boundary that enables software to trigger a response when a mobile device enters or leaves a particular area.
- In our case, it allows your app to automatically log your gym visit and prompts you to start your workout.
Starting a Workout
- Once the watch app is connected, you will see a Start Workout button on your smartwatch. Tap the button to begin tracking your workout.
-
The watch app will sync data in real time and you can choose to display your heart rate tile on any compatible display in your fitness facility. The way your heart rate tile is displayed will adjust based on the rest of the screen content. Here are a few examples.
